Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls are recognized as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and located on the border of Zimbabawe and Zambia. David Livingstone, one of the very first Christian missionaries to the African continent was the first man from western civilization to see the Victoria Falls. In 1855 Livingstone was told about the "smoke that thunders" by local tribes and one day decided to travel down the Zambezi River to find out for himself what the tribes were talking about. As Livingstone entered the region of the Victoria Falls he could hear the thundering waters from miles away. The Falls were named after Queen Victoria and are 1.7 kilometers (1 mile) wide.
The Victoria Falls Hotel provides five star accommodation and is connected with the Johannesburg International Airport through a 1.5 hour direct flight.
